Job Purpose

Responsible for developing research design, survey instruments; performing qualitative/behavioral analyses; presenting findings and writing manuscripts.

 

Job Outline

The Research Analyst position requires significant training and experience in empirical research. The holder of this position is involved in tuberculosis (TB) care related project. Primary areas of work include health systems qualitative and behavior studies.

 

The Research Analyst will be responsible for providing qualitative research expertise in: (i) research design, (ii) execution of analyses and interpretation of collected data, (iii) protecting databases and confidential information, (iv) presentation of results to different stakeholders, and (v) writing of manuscripts, reports, and presentations for knowledge dissemination.

 

About the project: A randomized control trial funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to study the impact of monitoring methods using digital technologies, such as 99DOTS, MERM and Refill Monitoring on TB treatment. The primary objective is to study how these monitoring methods impact the patient’s adherence and clinical outcomes. The trial will involve the implementation of specific interventions, collection of primary data (surveys and interviews) as well as secondary programmatic data, which will then be analyzed to estimate the impact of the interventions. The study will involve a Costing exercise to estimate the cost and a Time and Motion study to understand the processes and resource requirements of implementing different technologies. Qualitative research will be conducted to understand and explain the behavioral mechanisms driving the impact. The objective of the qualitative study is to [AS1] [AA2] [AS3] explore the barriers and facilitators of TB care in the private sector, to understand how the monitoring methods influence adherence behavior, and to examine the experience of participants with the monitoring methods DAT interventions.

1.    Master's degree in epidemiology, public health, public policy, population studies or development economics

2.    Graduates from other disciplines may also be considered if they have relevant experience and can demonstrate the relevant skills

 

 

 

 

1.    Candidates with prior experience in health systems qualitative and behavior studies are required

2.    Proficiency in at least one statistical and computational package such as MS-Excel, NVivo and ATLAS.ti is essential. 

3.    Strong writing and verbal skills in English and ability to communicate complex qualitative analyses[AS4] [AA5]  in a clear, precise, and actionable manner

4.    Creating survey tools, conducting interviews, surveys and quality checks.

5.    Independently[AS6] [AA7]  carry out research activities and maintain high quality and integrity of work process and results 

6.    Keen attention to detail and excellent recordkeeping skills

7.    Responsive to mentorship to produce high-quality outputs in the defined timeframe 

 

1.    At least 2 years of professional experience with prior experience in conducting qualitative research/ analyses or consulting projects will receive strong preference.

2.    Candidates with prior experience in healthcare will receive a strong preference.[AS8] [AA9]  

3.    Experience in stakeholder management preferred

Key Responsibilities

a)    Conduct a critical review of multiple streams of literature

b)    Develop quantitative and qualitative surveys and questionnaires, which include questionnaire design, sampling, and survey administration in the areas of health systems costing, health systems and behavioral health

c)    Analyze and interpret the collected data

d)    Liaise with the data collection teams to ensure smooth ongoing field activities as per project timelines

e)    Prepare reports, presentations, and opinion pieces based on research findings for internal (within ISB) as well as external agencies. 

f)     Prepare articles for peer-reviewed publications
