Job Outline

The Research Analyst (Quantitative) position requires significant training and experience in empirical research. The holder of this position is involved in two projects with respect to tuberculosis care. Primary areas of work will include but will not be limited to time and motion studies, supply chain mapping, evaluating technology-enabled innovation healthcare delivery models.

The Research Analyst (Quantitative) will be responsible for providing quantitative expertise in: (i) research design, (ii) execution of mathematical modelling and quantitative analyses, (iii) protecting databases and confidential information, (iv) presentation of results to different stakeholders, and (v) writing of manuscripts, reports and presentations for knowledge dissemination.

About the project:

The two projects that this candidate will work on are funded by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and in partnership with other organizations, such as World Health Partners, and are described below:

·         A randomized control trial to study the impact of monitoring methods using digital technologies, such as 99DOTS, MERM and Refill Monitoring on TB treatment. The primary objective is to study how these monitoring methods impact the patient’s adherence and clinical outcomes. The trial will involve implementation of specific interventions, collection of primary data (surveys and interviews) as well as secondary programmatic data, which will then be analyzed to estimate the impact of the interventions. Additionally, qualitative studies will be conducted to understand the behavioral mechanisms driving the impact.

·         Evaluation of the Private Provider Engagement (PPE) strategy is a study funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) and in partnership with the Foundation for Medical Research and the Central TB Division to conduct a broad assessment of the impact of the PPE strategy on TB patient pathways to diagnosis and treatment initiation, quality of care, financial burden to patients and their families, and treatment outcomes. This study will use a combination of primary and secondary data to measure the exposure of TB patients to various elements of PPE strategy at the patient, provider and community levels and then measure their impact on relevant outcomes. In this project, ISB’s primary role is to estimate the impact of various PPE strategy components on relevant patient outcomes through statistical analysis of primary and secondary data.
