ISB is looking for candidates with strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, and excellent communication skills. We seek applications from motivated individuals with a strong academic background to work as Research Associates at ISB. Research Associates (RA) generally go on to pursue a Ph.D. in internationally renowned schools of management, economics or public policy after working at ISB for about 2-3 years. 

There is currently 1 RA position available with Prof. Deepa Mani.

The candidate will assist the faculty in their ongoing research work, including literature review, econometric analyses and design and implementation of experiments. S/he will be working on large scale impact assessment studies as well as exploration of research questions in the fields of management and public policy. The position is best suited for a candidate with an interest in pursuing a PhD in management or public policy within the next few years.
 

Required Qualifications and Skills:

B Tech from a top-tier engineering college (preferably in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering) ; or

Master’s degree in Economics from a top-tier institute; or

Other Master’s degree from a top-tier institute

Consistently high CGPA, evidence of academic excellence

In addition, the following skills assume importance:

1. High standards in terms of quality of work, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and absolute commitment to task completion.

2. Experience working with big data systems, concepts, and tools.

3. Strong coding proficiency (Python/ Stata/ R/ SQL)

4. Experience with noisy and/or unstructured textual data is an advantage. This includes knowledge of various text mining algorithms and their use-cases as well as text pre-processing and normalization techniques

5. Data compilation: Scraping data from websites or documents and compilation into usable formats for analysis. Knowledge of writing API queries/Web-Scraping algorithms, Machine Learning/AI or textual analysis is an added advantage

6. Database management: Linking different datasets, ensuring data quality, processing raw data into processed datasets for modelling and estimation. 

7. Synthesis: Literature search and review, summary, presentation, and analytical writing.

8. Quantitative modelling: Econometric analysis for exploratory data analysis and causal estimation, including visualization and reporting.  

9. To conduct market and economic analysis and prepare reports to harvest data and generate presentable insights from the data.

10. Excellent problem-solving skills

11. Strong verbal and written communication skills

12. Exposure to economic problems and econometric techniques desirable

13. Motivation to learn and strong work ethic
