Background

The Indian School of Business (ISB) built a state-of-the-art AV recording & production and broadcasting facility, ISB Studios, in its Hyderabad campus in 2020-21. The Studios was set up with the intent to create, broadcast and disseminate content in the form of (but not limited to) podcasts, videocasts, TV programs, documentaries et al.  This idea was conceptualized with the desire that ISB Studios emerges as an internationally recognized source of high-quality independent programming.  The content was to emerge from the scholarly and practice-oriented research carried by ISB’s faculty, research centres, scholars, staff and students.

However, in the post Covid environment, the School saw opportunities emerging from greater adoption of virtual learning, and a broad desire amongst executives to learn newer skills and capabilities. Sensing this, the Centre for Executive Education (CEE) in the School has been aggressively developing a repository of innovative AV content and learning solutions, which is being made available across different program formats and platforms. ISB Studios, in partnership with external vendors, has been actively engaged in this effort of learning content creation.

Along with, to increase digital outreach of our programs, the School needs to dial up marketing and promotions including greater use of AV tools for the same. As of date, this is mostly produced through our vendor network, but we are considering having in-house capabilities to ensure faster time-to-market, as well as cost and messaging efficiencies.

Job Context

These opportunities have put ISB Studios at an interesting cross-road at a comparatively early stage of its journey. Ideally the Studios would like to drive and fully support each of these requirements. However, they have different implications in terms of talent and resources that we bring in and nurture in-house.

At the same time, the Studios will certainly be expected to provide the qualified guidance and leadership to the multiple stakeholders within the School who will have similar such, along with other AV requirements.

The Business Head – ISB Studios is expected take on the role of managing ISB Studios as a key asset of the School in driving success across the above seemingly disparate objectives, in partnership with all stakeholders.

Job Outline

Accordingly the position will have to:

1.    Work with the Dean and leadership team to develop a strategy and way forward (basis firm business case) for ISB Studios in terms of focus and prioritization across the multiple objectives

2.    Create execution capabilities (either in-house or through effective partnerships and vendor management) to own and meet the identified priorities

3.    Build, hire, manage and nurture the extended team and resources – from creative, production, editing and broadcast, along with account/ program management – required for delivering against the above priorities

4.    Take responsibility and manage ISB Studios as an integrated and critical component of the School’s growth strategy

5.    Be the interface (and voice-of) between the different stakeholders (faculty, research centres, scholars, staff and students) and the Studio team, to ensure smooth functioning

This job carries the responsibility of growing ISB Studios towards the goals as outlined above, and to be a principal contributor in helping the school move forward in its vision.
