Gopal Srinivasan

Mr Gopal Srinivasan is the Chairman and Managing Director of TVS Capital Funds (P) Ltd (TCF). TCF is one of the largest Rupee Capital funds in the world, with more than ₹2,000 Crores of AUM across three funds, with the first launched in 2007. TCF seeks to invest in the best ideas across stages of investments. Its diverse portfolio companies have included Nykaa, Wonder la, RBL Bank, the National Stock Exchange (NSE), and so on.

A third-generation member of the TVS Family, Gopal’s entrepreneurial career spans well over three decades, in which he has founded, steered, and scaled up over 10 new ventures across diverse business verticals.

Gopal’s management of TCF has brought success, both, to the fund, and to all stakeholders involved. Gopal’s leadership extends far beyond managing TCF, and his focus is on the social world. Seeking to improve the business environment for all players, Gopal has taken a keen interest in creating positive change in Indian VC/PE policy. In this connection, Gopal has played an active role in the growth and development of the Indian Venture Capital Association (IVCA) and served as its chairperson from 2015-18. Gopal has also been a member of the SEBI’s Alternative Investment Policy Advisory Committee, since 2016. He is also a Governing Council member of the Reserve Bank Innovation Hub (RBIH), which was formed in December 2020.

Aside from his involvement in the VC/PE sector, Gopal has always sought to contribute to the institutions that made him who he is, as he continues to remain an active alumnus and member of the University of Michigan’s India Advisory Board.

Gopal’s inclination toward creating an environment of intellectual and creative engagement in his hometown of Chennai led him to bring together a diverse set of people to interact within the auspices of the Chennai International Center (CIC). As its Chairman, Gopal has sought to develop CIC into a think tank that brings together a cornucopia of thought leaders from the spheres of business, economy, policymaking, science, art, culture, and entrepreneurship.

In recognition of his standing in the community, Gopal was recently appointed as the Honorary Consul General for the Kingdom of Netherlands in Tamil Nadu.
