Peter Leach

With over 30 years of experience as a business advisor, teacher and facilitator working with family business owners internationally, Peter is seen as the ‘founding father’ of family business thinking in the UK.

He spent his early career spent at BDO LLP, where he was a partner for 25 years when he established a specialist family business consulting firm in 2008. Following the successful sale of this firm to Deloitte LLP in 2014, he then led Deloitte’s global Family Enterprise Consulting practice for five years and has now returned to private practice.

He is currently the Adjunct Professor in Family Business at Imperial College Business School, London, teaching the family business electives on the MBA & MSc programs. He is also the special Advisor to BDT & Company International LLP. He is also the frequent writer on family business topics, and author of Family Businesses: The Essentials and co-author of Indian Family Business Mantras and Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

He has been awarded Family Business Advisor of the year 2013, Family Firm Institute’s Richard Beckhard Award 2011, and Family Business Red Ribbon Award 2010.
