Having joined the company in 1990, Mr Prasad led Dr. Reddy’s growth from a mid-sized domestic operation to a diversified and trusted global pharma player that has a global presence in 66 countries, with a total revenue of $2.83 billion. Prasad’s emphasis on research, innovation, transparency, business ethics, and leaner corporate structures has helped shape Dr. Reddy’s into what it is today - an organization of global repute, recognized industry-wide for scientific innovation, progressive people practices, and high standards of corporate governance.

Today, Prasad as Co-Chairman and Managing Director focuses on mentoring leaders, and driving innovation in science, technology, and digitalization while championing the cause of the planet, purpose, and patients. Prasad also ensures that the company is well-positioned for the future, drawing upon his 35 years plus of leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry, to help the company anticipate trends and envision the future of healthcare. Along with his responsibilities as Co-Chairman and MD, Prasad is also involved in other causes. He is a Board Member of institutions such as the Indian School of Business and Ashoka University. He has also previously served on the Boards of educational institutions such as IIT Hyderabad and S V University, technology company, Cyient and the non-profit organization, Acumen Fund.  He is currently the Chairman of the CII National Committee on Pharmaceuticals. He has also been serving as the Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Belgium in Hyderabad since April 2019.

As an advocate of sustainability, Prasad brought in many initiatives in the company to make it more sustainable. He is passionate about wildlife photography. He is involved with the activities of the World Wildlife Fund, AP, Telangana chapter, Wildlife Trust (WTI) of India, and other conservation-oriented organizations. He is also named “One of the top 20 leaders on The Medicine Maker’s Power List” of 2020 and 2021 and nominated for the YPO Global Impact Awards in 2020. He has been awarded “V. Krishnamurthy Award for Excellence” by the Centre for Organizational Development in 2019, the “Boundary Breaker leader Award” by CEO Awards in 2018, “India Business Leader of the year” by CNBC Asia in 2014 and 2015, “India Talent Management Award” by CNBC Asia in 2014. He was also recognized as Top 50 CEOs that India ever had by Outlook magazine in 2017, one of the top 5 most valuable CEOs of India by Business World in 2016 and India’s Best CEO by Business Today, 2014.

Prasad holds a graduate degree in Industrial Administration from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago.
