Policy Making Matters at ISB

It is back to school for a diverse set of senior government and private sector officials, with an average experience of over 16 years each, who have enrolled themselves with the Indian School of Business (ISB), to keep themselves current with global frameworks for policy making and management practices and better governance.

Close to 40 of these senior bureaucrats and officials from the All-India Services like IAS, IPS, IES and IRS, apart from the Indian Railways and private sector executives, are part of the Founding Class of the Management Programme in Public Policy (MPPP), which was formally inaugurated here on Saturday.

The Class was formally inducted into the Programme at the inaugural session in the presence of Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice Chairman, Bharti Enterprises & Chairman, Advisory Council of Bharti Institute, Sunil Kant Munjal, Joint Managing Director, Hero Moto Corp, Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB and Pradeep Singh, CEO Mohali Campus and Deputy Dean, ISB.

The participants will undergo the intensive but unique hybrid programme that includes classroom and online instruction from a world class faculty that includes policy makers, practitioners and international experts in governance and policy that includes faculty from the ISB and its partner School, The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, apart from peer learning opportunities from fellow participants. 

The list of faculty includes well-known names such as Shyam Saran,  Former Foreign Secretary and  Chairman,  Research and Information System for Developing Countries and Professors  Laurent Jacque,  Phil A Uhlmann, from The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, K P Krishnan, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Rural Development, Government, Shashi Tharoor,  Member of Parliament, Pradeep Singh, Deputy Dean & CEO Mohali Campus, ISB, Rajesh Chakrabarti - Executive Director of the Bharti Institute of Public Policy, ISB, Professor Dishan Kamdar, Professor Organisational Behavior, ISB and Prajapati Trivedi, Former Secretary, performance management Government of India, among others.

Apart from core management concepts the participants will also learn and refresh their skills on planning and budgeting, accounting, policy formulation including urban planning, geopolitics, Government-industry relationships among other domain areas.

The MPPP’s uniqueness lies in the rigorous and inter-disciplinary conceptual learning experience that it provides for high performing civil servants and private sector professionals.
