The PGP students of the elective course, “Government Performance Management” offered by Dr. Prajapati Trivedi, secretary to the Government of India and visiting faculty at the Indian School Of Business, had the unique privilege of attending a class of the course at the majestic Rashtrapati Bhavan on the 7th of March. The visit was as an initiative of Dr. Trivedi, who is credited with doing pioneering work in the area of government performance evaluation. The purpose of the course is to summarize and convey to the students both theory and international experience regarding cutting-edge tools and techniques for improving performance of government departments and public sector enterprises. The class at the Rashtrapati Bhavan was presided over by Mr. J. In a very interactive session, Mr. J. Satyanarayana explained the importance, advantages and challenges E-governance to the students. The students were also demonstrated the functioning of a website, “E-taal” that tracks all transactions consummated through the electronic media, across India. The students also attended the Annual Innovation exhibition held at the Sports ground at the venue. This year’s exhibition showcased 41 innovative technologies including seven from students. In a fitting climax to the visit, the students toured the Rashtrapati Bhavan after attending the class. The tour took the students through the iconic Ashoka Hall and Mughal gardens and was punctuated by an engaging narration of its historical context.
