A robust manufacturing base is a pre-requisite for India to have a vigorous economy. Accordingly, the Indian government has put forth the National Manufacturing Policy to enable strong growth of the manufacturing sector. Similar efforts have been made recently in developed economies like the UK and the US as both developing and developed countries see manufacturing growth as key to job creation and economic improvement. In light of these domestic and global efforts, Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing is a pioneering effort by ISB and the founding supporters of the Mohali campus to ‘raise the level of manufacturing in India and beyond through operational excellence and innovation’.
The Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing at ISB is the premiere independent academic institution for operational excellence and innovation in the manufacturing ecosystem in India and beyond.
To engender synergistic engagement between industry, academia and the government in India and beyond through

Operations and Supply Chain have emerged as the high growth sectors in India. Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, had launched the ‘Make in India’ programme to place India on the world map as a manufacturing hub and give global recognition to the Indian economy. India is expected to overtake Germany to become the fourth largest economy in the world by the end of the year 2026. The new growth trajectory will result in the need for skills, other than just domain competency. Proactiveness and understanding of market competition will be an essential skill for success in the Operations and Supply Chains sector. Indian players must develop a better strategy to understand their customers and the changing patterns, to remain competitive against China. Professionals at middle and senior management level, belonging to operations & supply chain domain need to acquire competencies like innovation, data analysis, competitive strategy, negotiation skills etc., to remain relevant in the highly competitive business landscape. The key focus areas of the course are as follows > Acquiring an in depth understanding of the operations and supply chain ecosystem > Creating leadership to move the entire sector to the next level of productivity, profitability, and quality > Training current organisations to achieve operational and supply-chain excellence.
