A robust manufacturing foundation is fundamental for India's rapid economic advancement. In line with this imperative, the Indian government has introduced the National Manufacturing Policy to foster the growth of a robust manufacturing sector. Similar initiatives have also emerged in advanced economies like the UK and the US, as both developing and developed nations recognize the pivotal role of manufacturing expansion in job creation and overall economic enhancement. Given these domestic and international endeavors, the Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing (MIGM) represents a pioneering collaboration between ISB and the visionary founders of the Mohali campus. Its mission is to elevate the standard of manufacturing not only in India but also on a global scale through the principles of operational excellence and innovation.
Established in 2011, the institute offers the Advanced Management Programme in Operations and Supply Chain.
Munjal Institute for Global Manufacturing (MIGM) aims to raise the level of manufacturing in India through operational excellence and innovation. Research at MIGM focuses on Industry 4.0, Blockchain, Skilling and Aerospace & Defence. A critical channel for dissemination of this research is through education. MIGM conducts the Advance Management Programme in Operations and Supply Chain and short term programmes in collaboration with Centre for Executive Education.
Consistent with our goal of preparing leaders, managers and exceptional contributors in the manufacturing sector, ISB has started offering manufacturing specialization courses as part of the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) since 2012. These courses provide students with a cutting edge advantage in understanding different sectors such as automotive , textiles , chemicals, energy and FMCG, etc.

Operations and Supply Chain have emerged as the high growth sectors in India. Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, had launched the ‘Make in India’ programme to place India on the world map as a manufacturing hub and give global recognition to the Indian economy. India is expected to overtake Germany to become the fourth largest economy in the world by the end of the year 2026. The new growth trajectory will result in the need for skills, other than just domain competency. Proactiveness and understanding of market competition will be an essential skill for success in the Operations and Supply Chains sector. Indian players must develop a better strategy to understand their customers and the changing patterns, to remain competitive against China. Professionals at middle and senior management level, belonging to operations & supply chain domain need to acquire competencies like innovation, data analysis, competitive strategy, negotiation skills etc., to remain relevant in the highly competitive business landscape. The key focus areas of the course are as follows > Acquiring an in depth understanding of the operations and supply chain ecosystem > Creating leadership to move the entire sector to the next level of productivity, profitability, and quality > Training current organisations to achieve operational and supply-chain excellence.
