Nupur Pavan Bang

Dr. Nupur Pavan Bang serves as the Academic Director at the Thomas Schmidheiny Centre for Family Enterprise, Indian School of Business (ISB), leveraging over two decades of comprehensive teaching and research expertise. A distinguished thought leader in the domain of family businesses, she frequently addresses industry forums on topics such as gender dynamics, next-generation involvement, family governance, and family offices.

With a keen focus on understanding the intricacies of "families," Nupur has engaged with numerous entities, unraveling their challenges, strengths, and best practices. Her body of work encompasses research papers, case studies, white papers, and articles published in both international and Indian outlets. At the crossroads of family businesses, finance, sociology, and gender, her current research projects aim to enrich the academic discourse in these interdisciplinary domains.

Nupur was listed among the top 100 women in Finance in India in 2020 and earned an induction into the Family Business United, UK’s 'Family Business Hall of Fame' in 2022. Holding a Post-Doc Fellowship from ISB, a PhD in finance, and being a Fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) of the UK, she brings a wealth of academic rigor and professional acumen to her role.

Beyond her tenure at ISB, Nupur has served as an Associate Professor at IBS, Hyderabad, and contributed as a visiting/guest lecturer at several leading educational institutions in India. In her industry experience, she worked as an auditor in a mid-sized firm in Singapore and served as the Head of Analytics at the Insurance Information Bureau of India. Here, she not only established best practices for Analytics and Research but also managed key projects, reports, and collaborations for various stakeholders, including the Regulator (IRDAI) and the Government.
