Deepak’s journey in the Sustainability and CSR arena spans over 20 years, with leadership roles across multiple industries, especially in the oil and energy sector. Beginning with heading CSR for Cairn India in 2008 he has had several firsts to his credit. Implementation of IFC valuation tool began under his leadership for the first time in India. He is also credited with establishing and shaping one of India’s leading corporate Foundations. In his current role as head of Public Affairs, Nayara Energy Ltd. he provides leadership to a range of long-term CSR initiatives grounded on strategic collaborations with government and nonprofit partners. This includes one of India’s largest water conservation programmes of as much as 20 million cubic mtr in Gujarat.

In his 25-year career, Deepak has worked with corporates, public sector, international and UN organizations including ANZ Grindlays Group, National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), International Finance Corporation (IFC) and nearly a decade-long stint with United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). He has had professional stints in more than 10 countries across Asia and Africa. Deepak is known for his integrated strategies towards converging the approaches of CSR, sustainability, business insights and inclusivity. His extensive understanding of India’s rural landscape, socio-economic intricacies and community sensitivities have been instrumental in initiating unclichéd and imaginative programmes with far-reaching impacts.
