Business and Policy Dialogue with Shri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS

The 3rd edition of Business and Policy Dialogue focused on ‘Intelligent Automation and Future of Work’ was organised on December 30, 2020.. Shri Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Principal Secretary of ITE&C and I&C, Government of Telangana and Professor Deepa Mani, discussed how Intelligent Automation is making its way across the broader ecosystems. Shri Ranjan shared that intelligent automation promises to be a central enabling technology for social innovation and impact and Covid 19 has further accelerated AI adoption. ‘We believe this is the decade of AI - not just for Telangana, but globally’, said Shri Ranjan. He further added that AI at the micro level can resolve various challenges that are unique to our country and it can ultimately lead to a better living for the citizens and effective governance for the establishment.

It was discussed that by adopting AI in the healthcare sector, we can resolve our low doctor-patient ratio; in education, AI can be of great help in delivering quality education within the available limited resources; in agriculture, AI can be effectively used to improve the yield and returns for farmers; it can resolve traffic congestions which are commonplace in all our cities, it can even optimize the use of infrastructure to facilitate ease of living in cities and small towns.

The Business and Policy Dialogue is a collaborative initiative of the School’s External Relations, tying up with different internal stakeholders for each dialogue. These dialogues are useful for policy makers, academics, public policy students, practitioners and individuals who are keen on analytical information.
