Naval Eyes - Ishan Shukla

“It’s only after you’ve stepped outside your comfort zone that you begin to change, grow, and transform.” This quote from author Roy T. Bennett is an inspiration for Ishan. Therefore, after ten years of active service with the Indian Navy, he, too, is seeking change and entrusts the ISB to deliver that change he desires.

Ishan joined the Indian Navy (IN) immediately after completing his B Tech in Electrical Engineering. His first assignment with the IN took him on board INS Viraat, India’s only aircraft carrier then. He gained on-hand tech experience of radar, radio and weapon equipment onboard the legendary carrier.

Going ahead, he was assigned to the Russian-origin aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya. Over the next 2.5 years, he worked with Russian OEMs and oversaw operations of the onboard air warning radars, which played a crucial role in scrambling Mig-29 fighter jets from the carrier’s deck.

His technical prowess and service to the navy earned him the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief’s commendation soon after. Today, he seeks a transition after gaining a good knowledge of technical and human resources management in the armed forces. “I would like to transition and be able to run my enterprise one day,” he said.
