Vasundhara Sharma, Assistant Professor of Information Systems at ISB, is from Ranchi and completed her BE in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra – one of the best engineering institutions in India.

She was inducted by Goldman Sachs as a Technical Analyst post her graduation. After two years of professional career, she chose to return to academia and picked up a six-month research project at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Her first stint with the Indian School of Business was in 2015 as a Research Associate with Professor Deepa Mani, who is currently Deputy Dean, Executive Education and Digital Learning and Professor of Information Systems. Continuing her academic journey, she completed her PhD from McCombs School of Business, the University of Texas, in Information, Risk and Operations Management.

At the McCombs School of Business, she worked with respected names in Information Systems like Professor Ashish Agarwal, her advisor and Professor Anitesh Barua, her co-advisor.

Her research interests comprise the cutting edge in Information Technology. She shared that she would focus her research work on Startups, Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies and IT Platforms. With her sound technical knowledge, she seeks to contribute to ongoing research efforts at the ISB.

“I wanted to come back and work in India. And there are not many research institutions working at the intersection of business and technology other than the Indian School of Business,” said Professor Sharma. Experiencing ISB’s research focus during her RA program here, she said, coming back here was a natural choice for her.
