Indian School of Business rated Top in India and #16 Worldwide: Poets & Quants' Tenth Annual Ranking of the Best International Business Schools

Dec 30, 2019

The good news for the Indian School of Business (ISB) just keeps coming. It has just garnered the 16th place in the Poets and Quants annual survey of the top international business schools. The Poets and Quant Ranking is a composite ranking based on a weighted average of the cumulative rankings of performance on four of the major and most credible MBA rankings published by The Financial Times, The Economist, Bloomberg Businessweek, and Forbes. These four rankings take into account a plethora of both quantitative and qualitative data that are captured in conducting these major rankings.

Sharing his views Professor Rajendra Srivastava, Dean, Indian School of Business said, "2019 has been a great year for ISB in terms of international recognition and rankings. This ranking by Poets & Quants is the latest feather in our cap. ISB has grown from strength to strength in recent years. The Poets & Quants rankings reflect “balanced” excellence across student placements, their salary increases, alumni performance, faculty growth, and research quality and impact. We look forward to 2020 with optimism and greater vigour."

This data is captured through a variety of means such as surveys of corporate recruiters, MBA graduates, deans and faculty publication records. Student level data such as individual performance statistics of incoming and graduating classes, GMAT scores of entering students as well as the latest salary and employment statistics of alumni are also considered in this composite.

While INSEAD kept a firm grip on the top spot, it was followed by London Business School (LBS), IESE, HEC Paris and IMD for the top five schools. While no school in the top ten moved up or down more than one place, the Indian School of Business was certainly this year’s shooting star moving up an astounding 29 places from 45th to 16th. ISB is also one of the few business schools from Asia in the top pecking order. In fact P&Q notes, “Even more surprising, the Indian School of Business shot up 29 places after it picked up rankings for the first time from both Bloomberg Businessweek and Forbes and improved on the FT list.”

The latest accolade comes on the back of a series of other credits that ISB notched up through 2019. These include creditable rankings in the Financial Times, Forbes and Bloomberg-Businessweek listings.
