Professor Krishnamurthy Subramanian appointed Executive Director (India) at IMF

The Government of India has appointed Krishnamurthy Subramanian, Professor of Finance at ISB, as the Executive Director (India) at the International Monetary Fund. His term will begin from November 1, 2022.

Earlier, Professor Subramanian had served as the Chief Economic Adviser (CEA) to the Government of India from 2018 to 2021. During his tenure as CEA, he was instrumental in instituting policies that led to India emerging from the Covid crisis with strong macroeconomic fundamentals.

Congratulating Prof. Subramanian, Dean Madan Pillutla said: “We, at the Indian School of Business, are delighted to know of Professor Krishnamurthy Subramanian’s appointment as the Executive Director (India) at the International Monetary Fund. This appointment follows on the heels of his service to the Government of India as Chief Economic Adviser.
