Pratham Singh: Player Perfect

Stepping into a new competitive arena, Pratham Singh, a 30-year-old professional cricketer, has embarked on a fresh journey as he joins ISB's PGP Class of 2024. Transitioning from his role as a top-order batter for the Indian Railways team, with stints in two IPL franchises and participation in the prestigious Ranji Trophy tournaments, Pratham is now determined to learn the tricks and trade of business world.

Among his numerous achievements on the cricket field, Pratham holds his performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (2021-22) in the highest regard. Scoring four consecutive fifties and accumulating an impressive total of 438 runs in 10 matches, at an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 136.02, he fondly recalls, "It was one of my finest performances, and after that tournament, I was selected by the Kolkata Knight Riders for the IPL."

Even though he has proved his mettle on cricket field on many occasions, Pratham holds his performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (2021-22) in the highest regard, where he scored four consecutive fifties and accumulated 438 runs in 10 matches at an average of 54.75 and a strike rate of 136.02. “It was one of my best performances and after the tournament, Kolkata Knight Riders picked me for the Indian Premiere League,” he recalls.

For Pratham, the decision to join ISB is driven by the desire to expand his knowledge and enhance his analytical thinking. Drawing from his experiences as a cricketer, where strategic thinking and team planning are crucial, he is eager to explore how these skills can be applied in the field of management. Moreover, he believes that the programme will provide him with valuable insights into sports management techniques and practices.

“I am inspired by the experiences of ISB’s distinguished faculty, shared during their interactive and reflective sessions. My classmates, coming from diverse backgrounds, make the course enriching by sharing insights that extend beyond a particular field or industry. As an athlete here, I strive to apply the insights gained over my two decades in professional cricket,” he asserts.
