Job Purpose

 

Bharti Institute of Public Policy is actively seeking a motivated candidate for the position of Teaching Assistant-cum-Analyst (TAA). This is a fixed-term opportunity based at the Indian School of Business, Mohali Campus. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with other TAAs, research associates, data scientists, post-doctoral fellows, and policy analysts as part of a cohesive team under the guidance and supervision of the Institute’s Leadership team. Bharti Institute of Public Policy (ISB BIPP) is dedicated to advancing education and research in the field of public policy. As one of India’s premier public policy think tanks, we engage extensively with influential policymakers, providing them with critical, data-driven evidence, research, and analysis on pressing societal issues. Our flagship program, the Advanced Management Programme in Public Policy (AMPPP), developed in collaboration with The Fletcher School, Tufts University, USA, is designed to empower mid-career and senior-level professionals with advanced knowledge and skills in public policy through a rigorous curriculum.

 

The Teaching Assistant-cum-Analyst (TAA) will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of the AMPPP program. Additionally, the incumbent will contribute to various research endeavours within the department, focusing on impactful policy research and analysis.

 

The successful candidate will carry out the following activities:

 

·       Teaching Assistant Responsibilities

-          Act as a point of contact between faculty members and participants enrolled in the AMPPP program.

-          Support faculty during classes by facilitating discussions, coordinating presentations, and managing course materials.

-          Address participant inquiries and ensure a smooth flow of communication between faculty, participants, and administrative staff.

-          Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of course content and participant information with diligence and professionalism.

·       Analyst Responsibilities

-         Contribute to research projects undertaken by the department, including data collection, analysis, and synthesis of findings.

-         Assist in the preparation of case studies, policy briefs, and research reports based on rigorous data-driven analysis.

-         Collaborate with other researchers, data scientists, and policy analysts to deliver high-quality outputs that inform policy decisions.

-         Participate in departmental events, workshops, and training programs, providing logistical and content support as needed.

Desirable Experience

·       Master’s degree in public policy, Economics, Political Science, Geography, or related fields in applied social science discipline

·       Only an outstanding candidate without a Master’ degree can be considered

·       Good research and analytical skills.

·       High standards in quality of work, attention to detail, ability to multitask, and commitment to task completion.

·       Strong analytical writing skills and ability to produce concise documents summarising analysis or literature reviews.

·       Experience in case/report writing for academic or non-academic publications.

·       Exceptional knowledge of the MS Office Suite.

·       Working knowledge of (some) statistical software and/or programming languages like R, Stata, Python, MATLAB,, etc. might be an added advantage, but it is not essential.

·       Candidates pursuing a Ph.D. or an academic career are encouraged to apply.
