Under the JSI Projects, we aim to work closely with the Government. We have already signed MOUs/started engagements with various Governments such as:

  • Andhra Pradesh
  • Himachal Pradesh
  • Jharkhand
  • Punjab
  • Telangana
  • Tamil Nadu

A brief description of all the projects are mentioned below:

JSI ENGAGEMENT IN HIMACHAL PRADESH:

  • PULSE PROJECT: In order to help government reach the last mile, Pulse is an advanced data analytics application using real-time digital data on citizen interactions with government programs and systems. The project will build predictive analytics for ground level actionable intelligence on potential exclusion and establish advance warning mechanisms.
  • EMPLOYMENT MARKETPLACE FOR INFORMAL SECTOR: To create a marketplace that connects employers and job seekers across all occupations listed under the National Classification of Occupations (NCO). The portal will also serve as a database of people, skills, sectors, current employment and market demand to enable evidence-based policymaking for the informal sector. Further, aim is to develop a sector-wise Skill-Competency Matrix. The matrix will help identify and enable targeted capacity building interventions for specific skill groups that are crucial for the economy.
  • FOREST BASED/HERBAL ECONOMY: Livelihood of a substantial proportion of the rural population in several Indian states critically depends on the sale of produce they directly collect from the forests. In order to increase value addition and retention of the raw material available, states need assistance in branding and marketing of production coming from these rural clusters including online platforms.
  • RESTRATEGISING THE TOURISM POLICY: The study will mainly focus on medium to long-term imperatives for the government. In the short term, there must be strategies designed around ensuring hygiene and safety and some fiscal stimulus packages to ensure economic impact is reduced. In the medium term, the study will look at the existing models of tourism in the state and suggest ways to re-look and restrategize the tourism policy with a long-term sustainability perspective.

JSI ENGAGEMENT IN ANDHRA PRADESH:

  • PULSE PROJECT: In order to help government reach the last mile, Pulse is an advanced data analytics application using real-time digital data on citizen interactions with government programs and systems. • ATTRACTING INDUSTRIAL INVESTMENTS: The primary goal is to identify unique investment opportunities to kick-start manufacturing in India across industries and states. The project aims to identify and analyse the various parameters (infrastructure, natural resources, financing etc) which are primary drivers to establishing manufacturing in that region.
  • HIGH-FREQUENCY HIGH-RESOLUTION INDICATORS FOR MONITORING ECONOMIC RECOVERY: Establishing a mechanism to monitor progress in the short term through a series of high-frequency and high-spatial resolution indicators to inform decision-making and responding to opportunities. ISB has already made significant progress on compiling several indicators of economic activity at a daily resolution at the national level – fertilizer sales, electricity demand, agriculture sales transactions, digital payments, NREGA demand, Aadhaar authentications, and air quality indicators.
