Professor Pooja Mishra:

Pooja Mishra is an Assistant professor of Organisational Behaviour at the Indian School of Business. Her research integrates insights from sociology and psychology with the organizational literature to generate a precise understanding of sources of disadvantage for women, workers from families of lower socioeconomic status, and older workers. Her research also examines effects of non-work variables on worker’s performance and well-being specifically in the post-pandemic era. She has a PhD from Singapore Management University and  Masters in Management from INSEAD.

About this Position:

ISB is looking for candidates with strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, and excellent communication skills. We seek applications from motivated individuals with a strong academic background to work as Research Associates at ISB. Research Associates (RA) generally go on to pursue a Ph.D. in internationally renowned schools of management, economics or public policy after working at ISB for about 2-3 years.

There is currently 1 RA position available with Prof. Pooja Mishra.

The candidate will assist the faculty in their ongoing research work, including literature review, econometric analyses and design and implementation of experiments. S/he will be working on large scale impact assessment studies as well as exploration of research questions in the fields of management and public policy. The position is best suited for a candidate with an interest in pursuing a PhD in management or public policy within the next few years.
 

Roles & Responsibilities:

You will:

• Assistance to the faculty – Assisting in their ongoing research work which includes the development of analytical models, solution algorithms, and designing of computational experiments.
• Data compilation - Scraping data from websites or documents and compilation into usable formats for analysis.
• Database management – Linking different datasets, ensuring data quality, and processing raw data into processed datasets for modelling and estimation.
• Synthesis - Literature search and review, summary, presentation, and analytical writing.
• Quantitative modelling - Econometric analysis for exploratory data analysis and causal estimation, including visualization and reporting, along with sound knowledge in signal processing/latent models.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• B.Tech. from IIT, NIT, or BITS (preferably in Computer Science)
• Master’s in economics/Sociology
• MBA/ PGDBM from premier institutions like ISB/IIMs/Others
• Understanding of Econometrics and data analysis is required
• Other Master’s degree from a top-tier institute
• Consistently high CGPA, evidence of academic excellence

Skills:

• Experience working with big data systems, concepts, and tools.
• Experience with noisy and/or unstructured textual data.
• Strong coding proficiency in Python and Stata is a must.
• Knowledge of various text mining algorithms and their use cases as well as text pre-processing and normalization techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
• Exposure to economic problems and econometric techniques desirable.
• Motivation to learn and a strong work ethic.
