Investigating incentivising of fruit and vegetable consumption to reduce the risk of NCDs in urbanising India

The scope of this project is to develop an intervention base on financial incentives and a sustainable business model to increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables for peri-urban communities in India. A business model, content and delivery mechanism for the distribution of fruits and vegetables (F&V) will be developed. A field study has already been done by the NIN team testing out the efficacy of the questionnaire designed to understand the production, sales and consumption patterns of village households. In the current month, the questionnaire has been revised to rectify the shortcomings identified after the first field survey done by the NIN team. Also, a meeting is proposed with certain vendors who will be interested in forming partnerships of distribution of F&V.

Impact: Provide insights to policymakers and entrepreneurs on a sustainable business model to increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables for peri-urban communities in India.
